TPMS Tool Training |
Bartec are world leaders in the implementation of TPMS systems for the wheel and tire assembly plant and the car plant with over 70 installations worldwide. As a result of this activity the company also leads the aftermarket with the most comprehensive range of TPMS dealer tools for the dealer, the tire shop and even the end user. The market desperately needs information and training on TPMS, diagnosing faults and repairing/replacing, TPMS tools and support. Bartec has sought to answer some of the many questions by putting together a series of training videos entitled:
Training is increasingly important for a number of reasons. The deadline for implementation of the Tread Act was September 2007 so dealers are still seeing only a limited number of cars coming in with the TPMS warning light on. We can expect this trickle to turn into a flood over the next two years. Those dealers who train their technicians now and equip with good tools can expect to establish leadership in this new field. The legislation states that if the dealer breaks down the wheel to investigate a faulty TPMS then he cannot allow the driver to leave without fixing the problem. We have heard of instances already where the customer, presented with the bill, says 'well you must have broken the sensor when you broke down the wheel' and then contests the bill. The audit process on the Wheelrite tools allow you to test out the TPMS without breaking down the wheel and then ask the customer whether he wants to pay for the work whilst you can still let him drive away if he says 'No'. There are many aspects of this new technology which require good training and information. Whether you are diagnosing a faulty TPMS, replacing a TPMS, rotating wheels, reprogramming the vehicle ECU, turning off the warning light or just trying to identify the correct replacement part then good training and tools are essential.
