Vehicle TPMS look-up

TPMS Sensor Types

Direct Replacement Sensors

These sensors are direct replacements for those originally fitted at the factory. Direct Replacement Sensors are typically a "PART FOR PART" fitment. One part number cross references to the OE fitted part number. New OE part numbers requires new direct fit replacement part numbers.

How Bartec Tools Make it Better

Just as with ANY direct fit part, checking the sensor prior to fitment is always a best practice. Easily test the sensor before and after installation with any Bartec TPMS Tool. Once fitted, use a Tech600Pro or Tech450Pro tool to properly complete the RELEARN step. Re-set the system, check sensor communication, and have the confidence of a job done right!

Multi-protocol Sensors

These sensors are direct replacements for the original parts, except that one sensor contains "many protocols." In other words, fewer part numbers cover a wide range of OE part numbers. New OE part numbers can either be a revision in application coverage, or sometimes a new part release.

How Bartec Tools Make it Better

Multi-protocol sensors present a unique challenge. The TPMS tool must be able to decode the correct information from the many protocols being transmitted. Once fitted, use a Tech600Pro or Tech450Pro tool to properly complete the RELEARN step. Re-set the system, check sensor communication, and have the confidence of a job done right!

Programmable Sensors

These sensors require programming [usually with a programmer or TPMS Tools] before installation. Programmable sensors typically have fewer part numbers and cover a wide range of OE part numbers. Because they are programmable, they tend to offer latest coverage without part number supersession.

How Bartec Tools Make it Better

Bartec TPMS Tools can program the most popular of aftermarket replacement sensors! Using the same tool that performs, Test Before Touch, DTC’s reads and the all-important relearn step, the technician can feel confident that the part is accurately configured for the vehicle being worked on. Only Bartec has bundled all of the TPMS service steps into easy to use service tools, making sensor programming easy and fast, and vehicle repair accurate and affordable!

Frequently Asked TPMS Sensor Types Questions

The TPMS Tool transmits a specific low frequency signal so that when aimed directly at, and in the near proximity of a TPMS Sensor, the sensor is forced into transmitting data. This data can be then received by the car or tool for the purposes of relearning or diagnostics.
The life of a TPMS sensor will vary due to several variables including temperature (cold can reduce the life as well as extreme moisture), garage kept or not, driving distance, maintenance of the TPMS sensor and air pressure. Normally you can expect to get somewhere from 7 years up to 12 years before failure occurs under typical driving conditions.
